FRIDAY
WITH A FIGHT ON THE METRO
EVERY JIU-JITSU PRACTITIONER THINKS THEY'RE
INVINCIBLE!
February
27, 2026, at 7:30 AM, on Line 2 of the Rio de Janeiro Metro. A man of about 40
years old enters and bumps into a man of about 25. The younger man gets angry
and starts complaining that the other had pushed him. A fight breaks out! Until
it reaches a point where the younger man grabs his ear and says: 'See this? I'm
a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu. I'll kill you!'. And here I make some observations:
- The forty-year-old could have avoided the fight, especially being the older one. Furthermore, he saw that if the fight actually happened, he wouldn't stand a chance. On the other hand, it's difficult for a man to hear nonsense and not get angry. So, if he lowered his head to the young jiu-jitsu fighter, he would come across as a loser, a coward.
- The young jiu-jitsu fighter, being a fighter and a black belt, should have emotional balance, as is required in any martial arts class. It seems that this citizen doesn't know how to be contradicted. Any drop that deviates from his 'normal' behavior, he resorts to aggression. Furthermore, the fun of a 'black belt' ends when another black belt in weaponry appears. I'm sure that if the older one pulled a gun, the older one would lower his head.
- Every alpha male is only an alpha male until he finds an alpha male who is more alpha male than him.
- I have a certain distrust of men who constantly want to show masculinity. Studies* say that the more demonstration of machismo, the more the guy wants to come out of the closet.
- On the subway, there was one group appeasing and another encouraging. If you have ‘friends’, acquaintances, and colleagues who encourage you to do the wrong things, get out of there. If that jiu-jitsu practitioner were to resort to violence, the 40-year-old man would get badly beaten, and a tragedy could occur. And whoever encourages fights, films them, and does nothing, besides being totally immature and irresponsible, should be punished.
This
text doesn't have a conclusion. It's just something I witnessed this morning on
the subway, especially since the young jiu-jitsu practitioner was right next to
me.
So...
Best
regards, and let's question everything and everyone!
