I'm a
bit wary of these 'motivational' phrases. Maybe the guy who 'enjoyed life'
didn't take responsibility for anything. At school/college, he was the guy at
the back of the class, he didn't study. In social circles, he didn't dedicate
himself to his parents, he didn't give up anything, because he only thought
about himself. Maybe the guy who 'enjoyed life' was married, but had several
lovers, acting like a 'badass' to his friends. Maybe the guy who 'enjoyed life'
had children, but didn't 'waste his precious time' taking care of them, passing
this responsibility on to others. Maybe the guy who 'didn't enjoy life' was the
highly responsible son/father/brother/grandson, dedicated to his studies and
work. Maybe the guy who 'didn't enjoy life' was the guy who got married, gave
up fleeting pleasures and dedicated himself to his family. So, these phrases
always have several faces. And finally: did the guy who 'enjoyed life like
crazy' really enjoy it or was he just living for show?
